Okay, so if anyone knows the way our back yard USED to look, this picture should give you a mild heart attack. This winter we took the plunge and did what we were wanting to do ever since we bought our house - create a flat, usable yard space. The grass is just starting to grow, and the next step will be to plant stuff along the edges of the walls. (You'll see how there is a dirt border around the edges for this purpose.) This space is actually larger than it looks...Hopefully the chair under the deck can give you a bit of perspective.

Yeah, that definitely looks WAY nicer! How long did it take to move dirt around and place rocks before the landscaping was finished?
I didn't really keep track, but I think it took about a month for them to deliver the truckloads of dirt and rocks, and then get everything just so. Fortunately it only rained once during that entire time, so it went pretty quickly. (They're already crying "drought" in WA because we had such a sunny winter.)
Wow, I didn't see the yard before the landscaping, but that's a huge improvement over just a few weeks ago!
Looking VERY nice.
